SPRING CLEARING | ROOTED WITH GROUND & GROW

SPRING 2026

Winter was for repair, and Spring is for movement.

This season is about circulation, lightness, and creating room for what’s next.

Clearing the stagnation in the body, mind and home.

Monthly Theme | Lymph Drainage

Circulation brings energy.

The lymphatic system relies on movement.

When flow improves, puffiness decreases, skin brightens, and the body feels lighter.

Spring is the season to support it.

A Note from the Ground

Here in this very moody Maryland weather, the landscape is starting to stir. Green is pushing through the surface, and everything is naturally starting to wake up.

March Garden Tip:

Before you plant anything, sketch a simple layout of your garden.

Keep it basic

Where the sun hits (morning vs afternoon)

Where water tends to pool or stay dry

What you planted there last year (if anything)

Why this matters

To avoid putting sun-loving plants in shade (biggest beginner mistake)

Naturally rotate crops → healthier soil, fewer pests

Stop overcrowding everything “just to fit it in”

Simple rules

Tall plants in the back (or north side)

Short plants in the front (or south side)

Something to do outside this month:

Refresh your garden beds

What to do

Pull early weeds (they’re easiest to remove right now)

Loosen the top few inches of soil

Mix in compost or bagged garden soil

Lightly rake it smooth

Why this matters

To set the foundation before things start growing fast

Early weeds = less work later

Compost now = stronger plants later (without extra effort)

Something to Help You Grow

Dandelion Greens

They are one of the first wild edibles showing up in Maryland. They can actually be really good if you prepare them right. Just make sure you pick them in an area that is away from the road or any contaminants.

What you need

Fresh dandelion greens (small, young leaves = less bitter)

Olive oil or butter

1 clove garlic (optional but recommended)

Pinch of salt

Squeeze of lemon

What to do

Rinse and roughly chop the greens

Heat oil/butter in a pan

Add garlic, then greens

Sauté 3–5 minutes until wilted

Finish with salt + lemon

**Tip: You can also blanche (boil then rinse with cold water) the leaves for a minute before sautéing to decrease the bitterness even more.
